Here are some facts about April:

People born in April have two birth flowers - the daisy and sweetpeas. The birth stone is diamonds.

The full moon that occurs in April is called the pink moon. Unlikely to be pink (occasionally it has a pink hue) it is named as it occurs at the same time as Phlox subulata which has bright pink flowers.

In Old English, April was called 'Eastermonath' after the goddess Eostre who is associated with Spring and fertility.

In Latin, April means 'to open' referring to the bloom of flowers.

The Lyrids meteor shower is best seen between 16th and 26th of April

In the Arctic, April means the beginning of 24 hour daylight known as the 'Midnight Sun'.

On April 11th 1970 the Apollo 13 mission launched but had major issues two days later that resulted in the iconic (and often misquoted) statement 'Houston, we've had a problem here.'

William Shakespeare was born and died in the month of April.

The table was cleaned using Wessex Teak Cleaner and then the colour restored with Wessex Teak Renovator before the final stage of the process - Teak Sealer!
