@worldcancerday Cancer turned our world upside down, and Mike into a celebrity look-a-like!

By the time you get to your 70's you'll know someone, or probably many people who've been affected by Cancer. Mike was no different but that doesn't change anything when it's you receiving the diagnosis.

It was a huge shock to all of the family, as well as friends, colleagues, customers and suppliers and the outpouring of support for him has been amazing.

2024 was a tough year to get through, not only on a personal level but also as a business. Mike, the founder of our company has always been an integral part of the business and, if you know him
then you'll understand that he's always working, even when he's not supposed to!

Going through chemo and radiotherapy meant this all had to change and everyone had to adjust, most of all Mike and his amazing wife Sarah who support and cared for him throughout, it also gave him a passing resemblance to the much loved actor, author and food lover, Stanley Tucci (well we thought so anyway).

Thankfully the treatment has concluded and, whilst we don't know what the future holds health-wise for Mike, we're looking forward to having him back at work part-time and Sarah is looking forward to having him back on his feet and out of the house.

January is finally over! We hate to wish our lives away but it does seem to go on for a long time!

To celebrate that it is now February we thought we would share some fun facts!

The birth flower is violet and the birth stone is amethyst.

Full moons in February are called 'Snow Moons' due to the high chance of snow in the northern hemisphere.

February comes from the Latin word 'Februa' which means 'to cleanse'

In Welsh, February is referred to as 'y mis bach' which means 'little month'

The constellation Orion is prominently visible in both hemispheres of the Earth during February

In Old English February was called 'Solmoath' which means 'mud month' very apt we feel!

The changes of being born on 29th Feb is 1 in 1,461.

And finally you have probably seen the movie but Groundhog Day is celebrate in parts of the US and Canada. If the Groundhog comes out of its burrow and sees no shadow then Spring will come early. If he sees his shadow it means another 6 weeks of winter....lets hope there are no shadow this year!
